My name is Agelos Christopoulos and I am a Senior FX TD and Creative Generalist with over 20 years of experience in Animation and Visual Effects.
My career is defined by three key phases: Specialized work as an FX and Simulation Artist, co-founding an animation studio in Athens, Greece and developing specialized technical tools for animation, simulation and pipeline. This journey has given me deep expertise in both high-end simulation/FX and comprehensive production management across the full production loop.
My main focus is leveraging this extensive background to bridge artistic vision with efficient technical implementation.
Foundation: FX, Simulation and R&D
I began my career in 2004 as an FX TD at MPC London. During my time there, I contributed to high-profile feature films (Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia, Sunshine) and commercials, gaining invaluable experience across the Film, Commercial, and R&D departments. My work in the R&D team involved developing simulation and pipeline tools. My time at MPC was instrumental in shaping my systematic approach to complex problem solving that carried me through the rest of my career.
Building a Studio: The Generalist Shift
In 2013 alongside a group of talented colleagues, co-founded an animation studio in Athens, Greece. For a decade, I was deeply involved in nearly every aspect of the full production loop. As a co-owner, I rapidly expanded my role from a dedicated FX Artist to a Creative Generalist, Supervisor, and Producer. During this time, we successfully delivered a wide range of projects, including commercials, feature films, and game trailers.
Freelance Focus
In 2022, I decided to seek roles outside the scope of our animation studio and transitioned to freelancing. Most notably, I worked for a year at Outpost VFX in Montreal as a Senior FX Artist. I also recently developed and delivered a Houdini toolset for the end-to-end production of high-count drone performances, allowing users to design, animate, and export drone flight paths and led animation while accurately respecting physical limitations such as collision avoidance, speed, and acceleration limits.
